Description:
Pollution and overuse tax the quality and quantity of our available groundwater. Those in coastal communities around the world can benefit from desalination. Current large-scale production models require energy to pressurize the system resulting in higher cost to produce potable water supplies. The system I envision harnesses free pressure, and requires shore-based waterworks to deliver a water supply. The theoretical system can be built for single home use, or municipal in scale. I would like to build a prototype capable of delivering up to 5,000 gallons of potable water per day. This is enough water to supply approximately 15-20 homes. The design implements existing materials, and simple construction. Maintenance can be performed by skilled laborers, and, if necessary, remote installations can be powered by simple green energy systems. This design is not currently patented.
